A leading investment firm is seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to help and assist the Head of Finance.
This role is hybrid and part time - 3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting and Finance Activity:
- Monthly accounting journals to be completed for the business and all relevant entities
- Produce the board packs to the stakeholder specifications
- Update the ICARA and have signed off in board meeting
- Enter all the purchase invoices into sage in a timely manner
- Enter all the sales invoices into sage once investment accounting have prepared them
- Track all the receivables
- Invoice third parties for shared costs and recharges
- Complete reconciliations on a monthly basis of all the balance sheet accounts for all companies within the group
- Create and update the budget and forecast with latest projections
- Help with cash projections to aid and advise the Directors with dividends with the group
- Reconciliation of investment seeding management
- Manage Insurances
- Supervise the Corporate invoice approvals and accurate processing into sage
- Supervise the Monthly / Weekly supplier and staff expenses payment runs
- Supervise the Corporate cash management
- Supervise the process of the payments and monitoring/reconciliation of various fees to 3rd party managers, investors and distribution agents
- Supervise the monthly reconciliation of travel and entertainment expenses / receipts for non-Directors
Complete the Regulatory and Tax Returns:
- Complete the VAT returns each quarter
- TAX returns for the firm and all relevant entities
- Complete all the FCA returns
- Complete National Statistics returns
Payroll and HR Accounting:
- Monthly submission and checking payroll – ensure that the payroll is processed each month for all members of staff
- Complete the HR returns such as PSA and P11d's
- Manage the firms pension - ensure that the pension is processed each month for all members of staff
- Complete Employment securities returns where applicable
Efficiently manage the Audit process and work with the Board to resolve any issues raised by the auditors:
- Host the audit planning meeting
- Track the deliverables and chase individuals for their information
- Review and update the statutory accounts
- Monitor changes to the accounts and update all the notes
- Ensure that the accounts are filed at Companies House and with the FCA in a timely manner
The role requires:
- Come from an Asset Management background (preferred but not essential)
- Have FCA experience
- Ideally 5 years + of post-qualification relevant experience
- Proficient with Excel
- A self-starter who has a ‘can-do’ attitude, can quickly analyse internal and external requirements and focus on managing often challenging delivery expectations
- A strong effective communicator who is able to develop and maintain relationships with the senior management team and internal teams, especially Investment Accounting
- Effective relationship building and influencing skills
- A proactive and flexible team player with effective interpersonal skills
- An independent thinker with a high level of integrity
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with a proven ability to prioritise effectively
- The ability to remain level headed when managing multiple tasks to often tight deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 office programs with Word, Excel (with advanced formulae) and PowerPoint (advanced) and Outlook as a pre-requisite, Sage Accounting
- Working Pattern: 3 days a week part time, 2 days in the office, 1 from home.
