General Description

  • To support the ministry of COTN by facilitating and mediating communication between the International Executive Team, COTN Malawi Country Director and COTN Malawi National Board.
  • To support and monitor partner compliance with COTNI grant requirements and to collaboratively address and facilitate resolution of any matters arising.
  • To facilitate and support processes of programme evaluation in collaboration with COTN Malawi.
  • To represent the children and programmes of COTN Malawi, facilitating impactful engagement with supporting partners and the greater COTN family.
  • To contribute to the growth and development of Children of the Nations UK & Ireland, acquiring new partners and developing existing relationships, mobilising them to COTN's vision.

Ministry/Job Description Detail

  • Meet regularly with the COTN Malawi Director and manage information flow with the International Executive Team.
  • Create agenda for and facilitate all regular meetings involving COTNI Leadership and the COTN Malawi Director and COTN Malawi National Board.
  • Support COTN Malawi's strategic and annual operational planning processes (calendar, goals, budget, project proposals, etc.) and communicate feedback from COTNI.
  • Research and mobilise individuals and organisations whose partnership can help COTN Malawi move forward strategically.
  • Provide support to COTN Malawi leadership in problem solving, researching requested resources and coordination of training.
  • Track budget performance and compliance with COTNI grant requirements through analysis of monthly financial reporting in collaboration with the COTNI Finance Team, consistent communication with COTN Malawi leadership and by reporting compliance concerns to the International Executive Team.
  • Facilitate programmatic audits of implementing country's activities, assessing, and supporting compliance with Standards of Service, Partnership Covenant, and Grant Agreement.
  • Support the development and execution of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) procedures, in collaboration with COTN Malawi.
  • As part of the UK & Ireland team, assist with the development and implementation of goals and operational responsibilities as assigned in the areas of fundraising, marketing, communications, Venture, events, and managing volunteers.
  • Travel to Malawi as needed to build relationships, conduct training, facilitate communication and conduct assessments with COTN Malawi staff and Board.
  • When working in Malawi, represent the International Development Branch at meetings of management staff, National Board, and other functions as requested.
  • Support holistic care and programme development by liaising with COTNI Programmes staff and COTN Malawi Country Director and Programme Directors.
  • Manage COTNI financial processes for grant, project and other fund transfers to COTN Malawi.
  • Participate as part of the International Development Branch in the development of goals, systems and organizational infrastructure for COTN.
  • Help facilitate excellent venture and strategic trips to COTN Malawi by supporting processes for budgeting, training, scheduling and hosting international visitors.
  • Assist the COTNI Construction and Projects Manager with COTNI processes regarding project implementation and evaluation.
  • Facilitate the flow of information between COTN Malawi and supporting partners across all divisions and departments (calendar, budget, reporting, projects, pictures, stories, other media, etc.).
  • Be a knowledgeable information source regarding COTN Malawi and the country of Malawi: COTN staff, children, programmes, culture, history and government, etc.

Specifications

Essential:

  • Third level qualification in a relevant field.
  • Experience of overseas ministry (in a paid or voluntary capacity).
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a relevant field e.g. organisational leadership, strategic planning, project management, monitoring & evaluation, programme development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build a network for spiritual / prayer support.
  • Excellent computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Personal faith in Jesus and a passion for reaching the world with the Gospel.
  • Strong commitment to uphold the vision and mission statements of the employer.
  • Willing to work flexibly, including evening and weekend working.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.

Desirable:

  • Experience of organisational leadership and/or governance.
  • Experience of monitoring & evaluation.
  • Knowledge of issues and needs among children in Malawi.
  • Experience of public speaking including in a church context.
  • Fundraising experience and/or experience of working with volunteers.
  • Excellent numeracy skills and ability to read and interpret budgets and financial reports.
  • Book-keeping skills.
  • Full driving licence with access to a car.

  • Perform all duties in accordance with COTN policies and procedures.
