Group Financial Controller (Fluent French Required)

Based in Central London with occasional travel to Paris

Our client, a dynamic and rapidly expanding international media company, is seeking a Group Financial Controller to oversee all finance and accounting operations. Reporting directly to the CFO, this critical role will focus on owning and enhancing financial reporting processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and strengthening internal controls to support the company’s ongoing growth.

You will take ownership of the month-end close process, support the preparation of monthly management accounts, and get involved in special projects and initiatives. A key aspect of the role will be challenging current processes and suggesting improved, streamlined ways of working, while managing stakeholder expectations effectively. Additionally, the position will involve overseeing the Financial Operations team, ensuring that suppliers are paid on time, as well as preparing and submitting the quarterly VAT and annual Corporation Tax returns.

You will also be responsible for the preparation and review of external financial statements, ensuring full compliance with accounting standards, and coordinating with external auditors to facilitate the audit process. This includes developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures. Furthermore, you will evaluate and improve internal controls over financial reporting, driving process improvements across the business. This role will require close collaboration with various departments to provide financial insights and support key business decisions.

To be considered, candidates must be ACA/ACCA qualified with a strong foundation in technical accounting and proven experience in financial reporting and controls. The successful candidate will be fluent in French and possess the ability to communicate effectively across international teams. You will have excellent attention to detail, the ability to prioritize effectively, and be a self-motivated, results-driven individual. You should be able to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
