Job description

Health Networks Ltd is an established health tech business in its 10th year and the market leader in advertising wellbeing spaces for rent through our platforms uktherapyrooms.co.uk and ustherapyrooms.com. With both UK and US websites serving as the leading marketplaces for health and wellbeing spaces to rent, we pride ourselves on our agile approach and rapid development of innovative new features. As a well-known and trusted brand, we are committed to providing users with a seamless, effective and trusted service with a focus on community. From a technical perspective we like to iterate and innovate in order to meet these commitments and to run lean. In joining us, you'll be our second employee, making us a team of four in total. You will be our sole employed web developer, playing a pivotal role in our continued success.

Role Overview

As a Junior Developer, you will work full-time in a highly autonomous and dynamic environment. You will spend your time fixing bugs, modernising and improving our code base, and developing new features. This job is an exciting opportunity for you to introduce more modern practices and significantly shape our technical evolution. Reporting directly to our two co-founders—one of whom also serves as CTO—you will play a key role in projects such as integrating AI into our processes. While most of your work will be done remotely, the team are all London based and there will be opportunities for team gatherings. Flexibility and a strong work ethic are essential as you help drive our projects forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bug Fixing & Maintenance: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in our existing code base.
  • Code Base Modernisation: Update and enhance our systems to ensure they remain robust, secure, and efficient.
  • New Feature Development: Collaborate on the design, development, and implementation of new functionalities for our UK and US websites.
  • AI Integration: Contribute to projects involving the setup and integration of AI into our processes.
  • Collaboration: Communicate effectively with team members, including non-technical staff, to explain technical processes and mechanisms.
  • Task Prioritisation: Manage your workload autonomously, ensuring critical tasks are prioritised and deadlines met.
  • Communication: Clarity in communicating technical concepts to non-technical team members.
  • Reliability & Conscientiousness: A dependable, detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
  • Autonomy: Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule in a flexible, remote environment.
  • Task Management: Demonstrated ability to prioritise and juggle multiple projects efficiently.
  • Design & Front-End Development: Experience or interest in design and front-end development will be considered a plus, though it is not a critical requirement.
  • Contract: Full-time – 37.5 hours / week for 6 months initially.
  • Working Environment: Fully remote but we require you to be London based.
  • Growth Opportunities: As part of a small team, you will have significant influence and the opportunity to shape the future of our technical projects and processes.
