Lead Network Security Engineer (Shift)

Permanent: Up to £65,000 + 10% Bonus + c. £9.4k shift allowance + more benefits

Location: Sheffield City Centre

Hybrid - Only day shifts are required in office

Your new company

I'm on the lookout for a Lead Network Security Engineer to work in a managed service environment in Sheffield to manage a shift pattern in the 24/7 Security Network Operations Centre.

This role requires eligibility for SC clearance, a prerequisite of this is to have worked in the UK for at least the past 5 years. Unfortunately, as a result, this role does not offer sponsorship.

This role offers a c.£9.4k shift allowance and therefore requires you to work in line with the DuPont shift pattern, comprised of 7 days and 7 night shifts dispersed throughout the month, with only the day shifts requiring an on-site presence.

Your new role will involve

1. Joining the existing Network Security team in tandem with the SOC
2. Looking for exposure to vulnerabilities
3. Setting up, maintaining, patching and upgrading customers' firewalls (typical vendors: Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Checkpoint)
4. Actively working on client firewalls
5. Completing firewall upgrades
6. IPS and IDS
7. Facing a variety of clients and helping set up, maintain, monitor, and secure their networks
8. Dealing appropriately with major incidents
9. Making sure appropriate steps are in place and followed for the remediation of vulnerabilities
10. Performing safe upgrades and patches where required
11. Providing accurate and informed security insights internally and with the organisation's customers
12. Making sure levels of incident response are appropriate

What you'll need to succeed

1. A good background in Network Security within a large-scale complex organisation
2. Experience setting up, maintaining, and upgrading firewalls
3. Top end salaries for this role will require some current industry certifications (e.g. Fortinet NSE 4/ NSE 5/ NSE 6/ NSE 7, Checkpoint CCSA/CCSE, Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE, Cisco CCNA/CCNP) and in-depth experience of the above.
4. In-depth experience of any of the following: Fortinet, Cisco ASA/Firepower, Checkpoint or Palo Alto is crucial
5. Experience within a large scale, complex organisation is necessary - managed service/consultancy/B2B prior experience would be highly beneficial too
6. Experience dealing with major security vulnerabilities/incidents involving networks and firewalls
7. Eligibility to get SC clearance
