A platform engineer is responsible for the uptime, innovation, and quality of the Netspeak platform. At Netspeak, we run our games using our own containerised cloud-agnostic technology. This includes running the game servers, building microservices for access and storage of the game data and any observability needs of the game engineers (logging, tracing, metrics etc.). Our infrastructure is configured using Terragrunt and services are written in golang and run on Google Cloud Run. Additionally, we use Agones and Kubernetes for scaling game servers.
As an MMO games company, our infrastructure needs to be very reliable and versatile. Game development is fast-paced and so observability is a very important aspect of our infrastructure.
