Salary: £52,942 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role:

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Team Manager to join the Adult Locality Team in Surrey. As the Assistant Team Manager for the Adult Locality Team, you will play a key leadership role, supporting the Team Manager to ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred services for adults with a range of care and support needs. This includes promoting independence, well-being, and safeguarding adults in accordance with the Care Act 2014 and other relevant legislation.

You will provide supervision, guidance, and support to social workers and care practitioners, ensuring professional standards are maintained and statutory responsibilities are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Team Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of the Adult Locality Team.
  • Provide reflective supervision and support to social workers and care practitioners, promoting professional development and best practice.
  • Deputise for the Team Manager as required, ensuring continuity of service delivery.
  • Assist in managing team performance, ensuring compliance with organisational policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
  • Oversee the allocation and management of caseloads, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
  • Support the team in undertaking assessments, support planning, and reviews in line with the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • Ensure high standards of recording and reporting are maintained, providing quality assurance of casework.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies to deliver coordinated and effective support to adults and their families.
  • Support staff in identifying and managing safeguarding concerns, ensuring that policies and procedures are followed.
  • Act as a key point of contact for complex and high-risk cases, providing advice and guidance to team members.
  • Promote a culture of safeguarding within the team and across partnerships.
  • Monitor and audit casework to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and best practice standards.
  • Contribute to service planning and development, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Support the implementation of new initiatives and changes to policy and practice within the team.

Requirements of the role:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Substantial post-qualification experience in adult social care, including experience in supervising or managing staff.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Proven ability to manage complex cases and balance competing demands.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, service users, and partner agencies.
  • Analytical and decision-making skills, with a focus on achieving positive outcomes for adults.
  • Resilience and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
