Are you a dynamic trader with leadership skills and a strong background in Property & Casualty? Aviva is looking for a versatile Senior Underwriter to join our Thames Valley Trading Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a growing team, working with Brokers across this area (including Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire & Hampshire).
The role will require you to go out on broker visits across the South-East so there is a need to be flexible with travel, as well as visit our central London office.
As a Senior Underwriter, you’ll provide an outstanding service to our customers and brokers. You’ll drive both new and existing business, as well as professional relationships, directly contributing to the underwriting profit and loss, trading, and service delivery goals. In addition to this, you’ll also be responsible for mentoring and coaching colleagues within the team and creating tailor-made solutions for our customers. Relationship Building: Develop positive relationships with customers and brokers, providing technical support and handling queries.
Influence and Engagement: Influence key market contacts through business development and customer engagement.
Customer-Centric Solutions: Understand customer needs to provide appropriate solutions that align with Aviva’s underwriting strategy and values.
Leadership and Mentorship: Act as a role model, mentor colleagues, and contribute to capability improvement.
Strategy Implementation and Technical Authority: Implement underwriting strategy, improve underwriting quality, serve as the technical authority within the team, and apply core insurance principles to everyday situations.
Underwriting Expertise: Strong knowledge in Property and/or Casualty with a consistent track record of winning and retaining business.
Process Improvement: Experience in applying underwriting knowledge to improve processes and procedures.
Regulatory Compliance: Ability to lead underwriting caseload within a regulatory environment.
Business Development: Excellent skills in business development and customer engagement.
Communication & Qualifications: Strong communication and negotiation skills, with a Diploma in CII or willingness to study for and obtain CII qualifications.
