A leading FMCG Wholesaler and Distributor in the Lancashire region is looking to recruit a Buyer to manage the Purchasing and Supply of their Ambient Grocery ranges, by effectively sourcing and negotiating the optimum cost price with suppliers. This is an exciting and challenging position, and the job holder will continue to be challenged with an evolving role as the business continues to grow and diversify.

About the Role

The job-holder will be accountable for developing and bringing to market a profitable category range using their excellent market and product knowledge. You will be required to work closely with the current supply base to nurture relationships and maximise terms, as well as identify and source new suppliers and new products/brands to bring them to market. You will also be required to manage the price files associated with the contracts and to execute in-season promotional activity to optimise sales, profit, and supplier income.

About the Person

With experience in the Wholesale, Retail, or Foodservice sector, you should have a background in Buying and Sourcing food and/or drink products, but we will consider other FMCG experience such as Healthcare, Household Grocery, etc. You will have a proven track record of negotiating savings, increasing supplier engagement, and developing successful and sustainable supplier relationships. This will be underpinned by your outstanding negotiation skills along with strong commercial acumen.
