Staff Nurse - H5 Short Stay Spinal

Band 5

Job overview

Adult nurses looking for an exciting challenge and a wealth of opportunities are encouraged to join our current team on ward H5.

We are a 26 bedded Spinal ward, caring for patients with a range of spinal conditions from across the Greater Manchester Region. Alongside the ward senior nursing team, the ward is supported by specialist spinal nurse teams and advanced nurse practitioners.

As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for supporting our Team to ensure that our service users’ needs are met through the delivery of high-quality care.

You will embrace the challenge of working in a highly diverse environment, committed to becoming the safest organisation in the NHS.

As a centre of excellence, you will offer a person-centred approach to their independence and wellbeing and go the extra mile to ensure compassionate and personalised patient care.

Main duties of the job

As a registered nurse, you will work as part of our H5 team to ensure that care given to our patients, from admission to discharge, provides a good experience with excellent standards of care. You will work collaboratively with all members of the MDT and specialist nurses. Responsibilities include:

  1. Medication management, including checking and administration.
  2. Demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills.
  3. Showing a high level of compassion for patients and their relatives.

You will be developed by our dedicated training professionals, including our specialist spinal nurses. You’ll have access to a wide range of learning opportunities and state-of-the-art facilities, including seminar rooms, an IT suite, a library, skills labs, and an on-site simulation suite. You’ll also have access to CPD to help take your career in the right direction.

You will be supported to develop the competence and confidence you need as an effective, independent healthcare professional. You’ll receive a full induction programme, benefit from classroom-based training, and clinical skills assessments.

We believe in our power and potential to make a difference and we’re always looking for people who demonstrate our three core values - care, appreciate, and inspire – to join our team.

In return, we can offer you a job role with purpose and flexibility. The size and scale of the NCA mean we can provide more challenges and opportunities so your career can always be moving in the right direction.
