Market Risk Analyst – London

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Market Risk Analyst to join our dynamic team in London. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with traders and other risk professionals globally to identify, monitor, and manage key market risks across multiple asset classes, particularly in energy and commodities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with traders on an intraday basis to identify and assess key market risks.
  2. Perform risk valuations and statistical analysis to calculate relevant risk measures.
  3. Produce and distribute regular risk reports, ensuring all risks are accurately captured, monitored, and reported.
  4. Assist in the development and enhancement of systems, models, and reporting processes, periodically reviewing both quantitative and qualitative aspects.
  5. Work with traders and risk professionals to streamline and simplify processes across global teams.
  6. Enhance control frameworks to ensure comprehensive risk management practices are maintained.
  7. Stay informed about market developments, regulatory changes, and new risk factors that may impact the business.
Key Skills and Experience:
  1. Strong quantitative and analytical abilities, with advanced skills in Excel, SQL, Python, or other object-oriented programming languages.
  2. A solid academic background, ideally with a 2:1 or higher in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or any related engineering degree.
  3. Knowledge of European energy markets is an advantage, with an awareness of current market trends and regulatory changes.
  4. Strong attention to detail, organisational, and numerical skills.
  5. The ability to work under pressure, with a decisive and disciplined approach.
  6. A team player, capable of working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  7. A motivated individual who thrives on challenges and is eager to learn and grow within the company.
  8. Fluency in a European language is a plus but not essential.
