Job Summary:

We seek an experienced and driven Production Manager to oversee day-to-day production operations at our 20,000sq ft, Glasgow Area-based facility. The successful candidate will manage a team of approximately 25 employees, ensure efficient production workflows, meet international customer demands and delivery dates, and maintain high-quality standards. This role is pivotal in driving continuous improvement, productivity, and operational efficiency within the business. Some degree of prior experience manufacturing electrical power products would be an advantage but not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily production operations to meet agreed international customer demands and delivery schedules.
  • Supervise and motivate production staff, ensuring a safe and productive working environment.
  • Develop and implement efficient manufacturing processes with Senior Management to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Monitor production schedules, ensuring timely completion of work orders.
  • Maintain quality control standards, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and customer specifications.
  • Work closely with the Production Director to align production strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Oversee inventory management & procurement team, ensuring the availability of materials while minimising waste.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, promoting a culture of workplace safety.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, lean manufacturing principles, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales and administration teams to provide order status feedback, aiding optimum operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and present production reports, KPIs, and performance metrics to senior management.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Production Manager or similar role within an electrical engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, develop, and motivate a team.
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, health and safety regulations, and quality management systems.
  • Proficiency in using production planning software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Degree or HND/HNC in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline with electrical systems awareness (desirable but not essential).
  • Must be enthusiastic about supporting the company’s continued growth plans.
