BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Payroll Supervisor FTC for 6 months to join our Payroll team, working between home and our office in Camberley.
Responsibilities:
- Supervising the team in preparing the weekly and monthly payrolls, with all levels of employees.
- Supervise the team in all aspects of administering and processing payrolls.
- Dealing with and supporting the team with all payroll queries from employees.
- Ensure compliance with Payroll processing timetables and policies.
- Training / mentoring payroll staff on an ongoing basis, to ensure team knowledge is kept to a high level.
- Assist the team in data manipulation and data upload of payroll input data received from various areas of the business.
- Be process oriented, service driven, work well as part of the team.
- Supervise and support the team in achieving the delivery of all payroll activities as assigned to time and quality, always ensuring a high level of accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with colleagues of all levels and to be confident in explaining and supporting payroll colleagues.
- Strong numerical competency with the ability to do manual calculations independently.
- Clear and logical thinking and the ability to work independently as well as part of the team and deliver strong results.
- To support the Payroll Manager with day-to-day tasks, audits, meetings and supervising the team.
- Travel to both Hemel Hempstead and Camberley, as and when needed.
The following are mandatory requirements:
- Ability to work on a large volume, busy payroll. Be process-oriented, service driven, and enjoy being part of a team.
- Payroll experience in UK monthly and weekly payrolls.
- Numerical competency in data entry.
- Confident in manual processing of payroll from start to finish.
- Payroll knowledge on current payroll legislation, i.e. SSP, SMP, SPP, NIC and Attachment of Earnings Order.
- Proven track record of delivering payroll and continually improving payroll processes.
- Clear and logical thinking and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team and deliver strong results.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with colleagues of all levels.
- Strong numerical competency with the ability to do manual calculations independently.
The following are desirable requirements:
- Ability to manipulate and upload large amounts of data in Excel from various sources with high accuracy.
- Previous use of VLOOKUP function to collate data for payroll.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel with particular focus on intermediate Excel skills with VLOOKUP, Pivots.
- Knowledge of iTrent and Business Objects desirable, but not essential.
- Knowledge of payroll processing in the construction industry.
- Experience with payroll and pension reconciliations.
- Experience of using various payroll systems and the ability to adapt and learn new systems.
- Experience in processing P11Ds is required.
