Job description

A well-established alloy component manufacturer is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join its metallurgical team in Leicester. This role involves conducting materials testing, supporting quality control, and assisting in research and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing routine and advanced materials testing, including hardness, tensile, and microstructural analysis
  • Preparing and analysing metallurgical samples using microscopy and chemical testing methods
  • Supporting quality control processes to ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy
  • Assisting in research and development of new alloy compositions and processing techniques
  • Documenting test results and reporting findings to engineers and production teams

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience working in a metallurgical or materials testing lab (manufacturing, foundry, or aerospace experience is advantageous)
  • Knowledge of superalloys, aerospace materials, or high-performance metals is desirable but not essential
  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as spectrometers, hardness testers, and microscopes
  • Foundation level qualification in engineering/ laboratory skills would be beneficial
