The Vacancy

Project Accountant - (Part-Qualified or Qualified)
Location: Northampton (occasional office visits), primarily remote

We are seeking a dedicated Project Accountant to join our small, friendly, and dynamic finance team. We constantly develop new processes and collaborate closely with archaeological heads of departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information. Join us and be part of a team that values innovation and teamwork!

Role Overview:

As a Project Accountant, you will ensure project finances are correct and regularly updated. Given the unpredictable nature of archaeological contracts, you will engage regularly with Heads of Departments to ensure accurate revenue reporting in compliance with FRS102.

You will be responsible for performing and maintaining Work in Progress (WIP) calculations and schedules, investigating unusual project margins or projects with anomalies, maintaining cashflow forecasts and budget information, amongst others.

Requirements:

We are looking for a part-qualified or fully qualified accountant with a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent numerical proficiency, and the ability to analyse complex financial reports with an enquiring mind.

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Strong attention to detail and investigative skills.
  2. Intermediate Excel skills.
  3. Ability to learn quickly and to adapt to new systems and processes.
  4. Experience in Sage 200 (desirable but not essential).
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills to maximize team performance.
  6. Willingness to learn (e.g. in things like grant accounting and Charity SORP).
Benefits:
  1. Flexible working hours, including full or part time
  2. Primarily remote work with occasional visits to our Northampton office.
  3. Opportunity to work in a unique and meaningful sector.
To apply:

Please submit a full CV, application form, and a covering letter via the recruitment portal, setting out your reasons for applying and what you can bring to MOLA.

Closing date for applications is 14th January 2025.

Please note all applicants must have the right to work in the UK without restrictions. Proof of eligibility will be required prior to commencement.

MOLA is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all sections of the community.
