Job description

Help strengthen our Configuration Pension Implementation Team. We are currently looking for Pension Consultants and Senior Pension Consultants to join our home-based team.

The Configuration Team sits within our Implementation Department, whose responsibility is to implement first-class pension administration solutions for our new and existing clients. Our span of projects can range from large blue-chip strategic transformational deliveries through to small bespoke client solutions. Working closely with other stakeholders, our activities and skills are wide and varied.

You will be working on one of the largest public sector pension schemes in the UK, ensuring all aspects of the transition and change project are delivered on time and to a high standard within a controlled project environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  1. Meet with clients during the implementation cycle to understand their requirements, data, processes and systems, and make recommendations on how to implement our product(s)/service(s).
  2. Undertake system demonstrations when required to existing and prospective clients.
  3. Undertake project management activities including risk and issue identification and mitigation.
  4. Identify, collate and document scheme/product information.
  5. Review existing business processes and establish new operating procedures where required.
  6. Conduct system configuration and testing quality control activities including requirements documentation peer review.
  7. Support the technical development of our technology platforms through participation in analysis and design, and specification production for new and/or enhanced developments.
  8. Support the sales/procurement process through communication with prospective clients.
  9. Aid the development of strategies for the improvement of transition and change process, services and standards.
  10. Provide support where necessary to your line manager in the effective management of any staff under their direct control.
  11. Undertake system configuration and checking.
  12. Undertake data analysis activities and checking.

What we’re looking for:

  • Able to lead on projects and experience of managing/mentoring a team.
  • UK Pension background: detailed understanding and ability to explain the difference between DB, DC, CARE and Annuities, how they are administered and a full understanding of system & process implications.
  • Able to explain pension member records and their set up, the relationships between members, Trustees, schemes, actuaries, funds and investments, different types of Pension Schemes, different types of member status and applicable calculations for each, describe the regulatory bodies and their roles in this sector, and demonstrate knowledge of system set up and use of parameters.
  • Able to demonstrate capability and knowledge of pension/employee benefit technology platforms.
  • Strong MS Excel skills, able to draft an automated excel calculator with basic formula; ability to use filters, sorting, pivot tables (rows, columns, grouping, filters and totaling), lookups, control totals, IF and nested IF statements and formatting of cells to specific guidelines.
  • Good MS Access.
  • Ability to understand requirements and able to produce specifications.
