Job Title: Mechanical Fitter

Location: Smethwick, West Midlands
Salary: £18.57 p/h including shift allowance (C£45,000 p/a)
Hours: 2pm - 12.00am Monday - Thursday (47.5 hours per week)

We are pleased to be recruiting for a mechanical fitter for our client based in Smethwick, West Midlands. The successful candidate will be an experienced mechanical fitter assisting with maintaining fixed plant and machinery working to best practice standards, whilst maintaining production at the highest level. The mechanical fitter will be an integral part of the maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Respond to and assist in the correction of plant breakdowns.
2. Responsible for the repair of plant machinery and the maintenance of plant facilities, tooling, and equipment.
3. Identify and bring to the attention of Site Management opportunities for improving the reliability, efficiency, and performance of site equipment.
4. Provide technical support to site personnel.
5. Assist in the operation of the site to ensure plant availability and production is maintained at the highest possible level.
6. Comply with all applicable legislation and company standards.
7. Perform such other duties as the Company may from time to time reasonably require.
8. Comply with all Company policies related to Code of Conduct, Environmental, Health and Safety, and Community.

Qualifications:

1. Experience in medium to heavy industry.
2. Knowledge of health and safety processes and procedures.
3. Knowledge of hazard and risk assessment principles.
4. Knowledge of safe systems of work, including isolation procedures.
5. Experience working on industrial mechanical equipment.
6. Knowledge of lubrication principles and techniques.
7. FLT Licence desirable.
8. Mechanical, welding, and fabrication experience/qualifications.
9. Working at height training desirable.
10. Harness training desirable.
11. Abrasive wheels training desirable.
12. Lifting and slinging training desirable.
