Job description

Thrive Oldham are recruiting an Electrician to join their well established manufacturing client in Torfaen. The Ideal candidate should have the below skills.

To support Operations in achieving maximum uptime, reliability, efficiency and safety of all plant equipment and services through the provision of timely and cost effective maintenance and repair of all relevant company assets in accordance with Company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  1. Respond as necessary to operational priorities seeking clarity from Operations or Maintenance Management where necessary.
  2. Support production activities at all times by ensuring minimum response times to equipment breakdown.
  3. Execute tasks in line with Planned Preventative Maintenance schedule, ensuring work is carried out in compliance with all statutory Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and in accordance with internal risk assessments.
  4. Fully utilise the Pirana CMMS.
  5. Undertake effective fault finding and rectification of plant and equipment failures to include the effective Root Cause analysis and the implementation of both short term and long term corrective actions.
  6. Ensure that all repair and maintenance documentation is completed to achieve full compliance with any regulatory guidelines and company Standard Operating Procedures.
  7. Participate in shift handovers to ensure departmental performance is maintained.
  8. Identify and introduce improvements in conjunction with other departments to support equipment reliability and operation.
  9. Work alongside sub-contractors as required and take the lead in such circumstances.
  10. Foster and maintain positive relationships with other departments within the business.
  11. Identify key spares requirements.
  12. Assist in Installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment.
  13. Participate in the companies' continuous improvement activities to give a sustained improvement in quality, efficiency and reliability.
  14. Conduct minor projects as necessary.
  15. Use company equipment, materials and spares in a responsible manner.
  16. Ensure the highest levels of housekeeping are maintained within maintenance facilities and that these standards are upheld with all maintenance activities on factory equipment.
  17. Be actively involved in any process improvement or quality investigation with regard to non-conforming product including working with other functions.
  18. Achieve required Quality Standard, through strict adherence to policies, procedures and documentation.
  19. Participate in creating appropriate Risk assessments and Work Instructions.
  20. Support and promote a Health & Safety (H&S) culture by complying with all aspects of H&S policy and procedures including ensuring that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements are adhered to at all times.
  21. Undertake other tasks within capabilities, in any department across the business, as requested by the Manager / Supervisor.

Essential Experience/Qualifications:

  1. Formally trained through an engineering apprenticeship, preferably to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  2. Broad range of experience in all aspects of maintenance in heavy engineering environments.
  3. Familiarity of operating CMMS packages.
  4. Used to working in a pressurised environment, with particular regard to tight downtime constraints.
  5. Computer literate.
  6. Familiar with AC/DC drives & motors.
  7. Fault Finding & interrogating various PLC systems.
  8. Experience of various voltages from 660v (AC) - 5v (DC).
  9. Familiar with motor control (contactors - star delta, DOL).
  10. Experience of maintaining both CNC and manual machine tools.
  11. Experience of maintaining and fault finding on large, complex equipment.

Desirable Experience/Qualifications:

  1. Experience of furnaces and combustion systems.
  2. Experience of maintaining and fault finding on large, complex equipment.

Salary: Competitive

Shift Allowance: 10 % shift allowance rising to 16% on 4 shift pattern

Shift Pattern:

  • Days: Monday to Thursday 8am - 4.30pm, Friday 8am - 1pm
  • Afternoon: 2pm - 10pm
  • Mornings: 6am - 2pm
  • Nights: Monday - Friday 10pm - 6am
