Base pay range
Title: Business Analyst (Payments)
Salary: Up to £50,000
Location: London (Hybrid)
Key Responsibilities
Business & Process Analysis:
- Analyse and document business processes, workflows, and system requirements for payment solutions.
- Identify areas for process optimization and recommend improvements.
Product & Feature Development Support:
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to define and refine payment products and features.
- Gather and translate business requirements into functional specifications.
- Ensure payment solutions align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Payments Data & Insights:
- Analyse transaction data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide actionable insights to optimize payment processing efficiency, reduce failures, and enhance customer experience.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Act as a liaison between technical teams, business teams, and external partners (e.g., banks, payment processors).
- Communicate complex requirements and insights in a clear, actionable manner.
Market & Competitive Analysis:
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging payment technologies.
- Conduct competitive benchmarking to identify areas for innovation.
Testing & Quality Assurance:
- Assist in user acceptance testing (UAT) for new payment features and system updates.
- Ensure payment solutions are reliable, secure, and meet business objectives.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Work with compliance teams to ensure payment processes adhere to financial regulations (e.g., PCI DSS, AML, PSD2).
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with fraud, chargebacks, and transaction failures.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Develop reports and dashboards to track payment performance and KPIs.
- Maintain clear and detailed documentation of payment workflows, requirements, and solutions.
Key Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in fintech, payments, or banking.
Technical & Industry Knowledge:
- Understanding of payment systems, gateways, and financial transaction processing.
- Knowledge of card networks (Visa, Mastercard), ACH, SWIFT, RTP, BNPL, and digital wallets.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance in payments (e.g., PCI DSS, KYC, AML, PSD2, Open Banking).
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong ability to analyze large datasets and derive actionable insights.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with cross-functional teams.
Tools & Technology:
- Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and business intelligence tools.
- Experience with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Asana).
