Job description

Advanced Aerospace & Energy Sectors – heavy industry

Forming part of one of the world’s leading industrial groups, this specialist engineering division operates at the cutting-edge of technical design and expertise in the manufacture of high-grade forgings to the Defence, Nuclear, Aerospace and Petrochem sectors.

The Role:

  1. Reporting to the Operations Director, provide a range of innovative technical solutions to overcome manufacturing problems, achieved either via the design or modification of existing equipment, or the specification and installation of suitable heavy plant and equipment.
  2. Manage the engineering effort to ensure delivery of projects on time and to budget.
  3. Ensure all in-house designed projects comply fully with regulatory authorities and relevant codes.
  4. Explore and determine the cost / efficiency benefits of alternative machinery and make suitable recommendations.
  5. Maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders – including internal across multiple sites, plus extensive technical supplier involvement.
  6. Support and drive the culture of continuous improvement in terms of Cost Efficiency, Quality, and Health & Safety while adopting industry best practice.

The Person:

  1. Degree level or equivalent in Engineering coupled with relevant experience in heavy engineering industry, with a mechanical engineering bias.
  2. Knowledge of CAD design and interpretation of engineering drawings.
  3. Knowledge of UK and International engineering standards.
