Senior Design Engineer who has a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with experience using structural design software and AutoCAD is required for a well-established company based in Bedworth, Coventry, West Midlands.

As a successful candidate you will be undertaking and managing conceptual and detailed designs for both temporary and permanent works on a variety of tunnelling and below ground civil engineering projects and supporting junior staff through the design process.

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Senior Design Engineer who has a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with experience using structural design software and AutoCAD.

The company is developing their in-house design capability and are looking to expand their small design team where you will join as the Senior Design Engineer and will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the team and influence the design process at this early stage.

As the Senior Design Engineer you will have design experience in temporary and permanent works gained on civil engineering projects and will be looking to join the company to further develop your knowledge and skills in the design of tunnels and underground works.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Senior Design Engineer include:

1. Assisting in the development of conceptual designs
2. Preparation of calculations, written reports and drawings
3. Checking design calculations, reports and drawings undertaken by staff and subconsultants
4. Supporting management of the in-house design team
5. Co-ordination and management of work undertaken by external design consultants
6. Ensuring designs are undertaken in compliance with CDM Regulations, Standards and Codes of Practice
7. Supporting the development of technical skills of junior staff
8. Reactive design support to operational sites
9. Attend client meetings
10. Site visits as required

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• You will hold a Master's degree in civil or structural engineering

• Ideally you will be working towards chartered engineer status (CEng, MICE, MIStructE)

• You must have previous postgraduate experience working in a design environment in the UK on a range of civil engineering projects including tunnels, shafts, or civil infrastructure

• You must be keen to further develop your skills in below ground civil engineering design

• You will be familiar with Eurocodes and have a sound understanding of CDM Regulations, specifically the designer’s requirements and requirements regarding the design risk assessment process

• You will have excellent communication skills in IT, verbal and written forms

• You will have experience in the use of structural design software and AutoCAD

• You will hold a full UK driving licence
