Mould Maintenance Technician - Automotive vacancy in Oxfordshire (005lw)

Our client is one of the world’s largest automotive suppliers with 347 manufacturing operations and 94 product developing, engineering and sales centres in 27 countries. Their capabilities include body exteriors and structures, power and vision technologies, seating systems and complete vehicle solutions.

The have the largest Mould department in Europe. The environment is great; friendly, team based, fully supportive of training and progression and with opportunities to move around different departments (it is extremely rare to have so many different types of engineering & technical aspects on 1 site (i.e. moulding, automation, robotic painting, assembly & tooling). Safety & Quality is paramount. For service leavers: Aircraft Engineers have worked really well in this role.

Main purpose of job:
Reporting to the Mould Maintenance Manager / Mould Maintenance Team Leader, to act as a team member providing a multi-skilled technical service to ensure the effective and efficient running of the plant.

Main duties:

  1. React to breakdowns and quality issues using diagnostic skills to identify and rectify problems quickly and effectively.
  2. Programme and monitor the running of plant equipment to maximise through-put in line with agreed quality standards.
  3. Undertake planned maintenance.
  4. Work as a member of the shift team, maximising efforts to meet priorities and having a longer-term view to continuous improvement.
  5. Input into manufacturing facilities (layouts, services etc.).
  6. Always follow environmental, health & safety policies and procedures and report any issues.
  7. Take appropriate escalation actions.
  8. Provide engineering and technical services to improve the performance of the plant.
  9. Knowledge of quality standards.
  10. To project a professional image of the company to customers/visitors.
  11. To use the escalation procedure for any issues/concerns eg. Quality/downtime.

Skills & Experience:

  1. Electrical experience (and ideally electrical, mechanical or hydraulic qualification).
  2. Will be fully trained with process and machine systems.
  3. Experience within a large injection moulding shop would be desirable.
  4. Ability to write technical reports.
  5. Robotic experience – Kuka, ABB robots desirable.
  6. Experience of hydraulics and PLC work useful.
