Job summary

Graduate Job - Laboratory Assistant & 3D Print Engineer

Company Description

AM-COE is a research and manufacturing center specializing in vat-photopolymerisation 3D printing of ceramics, polymers, and composites. The center provides production and research services to Aero, Automotive, Energy, and other manufacturing industries.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Laboratory Assistant at AM-COE. The Laboratory Assistant will support head scientists and project managers in material and process development. They will be responsible for preparation of small batches of 3D printing slurries, characterisation of the formulations, quality control, operating laboratory equipment, utilizing laboratory skills, applying analytical skills, and effective communication.

Qualifications and Skills

Required Key Skills are:

  • Very high attention to details and documentations
  • Communication and teamworking. You will be working with head scientists and communication is key
  • Analytical skills, problem-solving, and multi-tasking
  • Full attention to Health & Safety and the use of PPE.

Desired skills/qualification/experience are:

  • Experience with Laboratory Equipment and Laboratory Skills - material testing and characterisation
  • Knowledge of 3D printing processes is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, polymers, material, petrochemicals, bio-engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar engineering fields.

Role Location, Terms, and Salary

  • The role is based in Derby, and is full-time and on-site
  • Working hours are 8.00am to 4.30pm
  • The job is fixed-term for one year, with a chance of extension or going permanent, upon fixed-term completion and review
  • Probation period is six months
  • The fixed annual salary is £25,000/year.
