Job description

Project Engineer who has experience working the full project lifecycle covering the design and installing of automatic sprinkler systems is required for a well-established company based in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, North West England.

SALARY: up to £35,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Generous Benefits (see below)

LOCATION: Rochdale, Greater Manchester, North West England

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Project Engineer who has experience working the full project lifecycle covering the design and installing of automatic sprinkler systems. Working as a Project Engineer you'll be a key player in delivering fire protection projects, focusing on automatic sprinkler systems where you will own the full project lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to installation and commissioning.

As the Project Engineer you will also have the opportunity to project manage smaller projects, typically up to £50,000 in value, and will play a crucial role in ensuring their successful completion. Your day-to-day will involve a mix of technical design work, project management, and on-site activities. You'll be working closely with clients, contractors, and internal teams, so strong communication and collaboration skills are essential. This is a hands-on role where you'll have the chance to make a real impact on the safety and security of your clients' properties.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Project Engineer include:

  • Overall, 360-degree project completion of design, installation of automatic sprinkler systems
  • Production of / assist in the design drawings for automatic sprinkler installations, and associated procurement
  • Project Management of smaller projects (up to 50k)
  • Undertake inspections of onsite works and ensuring completion of works as per the design standards produced
  • Assist and advise engineers where required with general site issues
  • Attend contract handover meetings with the Sales Team Members
  • Identify/update & communicate design issues, i.e. drawing standards, non-conforming issues etc.
  • Check design quantities against tender quantities and raise any anomalies with Commercial and Estimating
  • Produce Programme of Works and monitor against progress
  • Ensure all drawings are issued appropriately to all parties and that approval has been received, as necessary. All final Construction Issue drawings are provided to fabricators, installers etc.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience within a similar role
  • Understanding of BSEN 12845, BS9251, NFPA, FM global standards
  • LPCB competency exams for basic exam
  • Basic AutoCAD 2D skills
  • Competency with FHC or other hydraulic calculation packages
  • Attention to detail and ability to apply analytical thinking in problem-solving
  • Experience working within a customer-facing role, and the ability to build strong customer relationships
  • Able to work under pressure and to a high standard
  • Excellent communication/customer-facing skills
  • Disciplined and organised
