Job description

Market Researcher/Data Analyst - PT/FT Flexible

Location: Flexible hybrid working – Office in Cambridgeshire

Salary - £30-45k depending on experience

Grounded Research is a specialist market research agency working across the entire food supply chain – from field to fork. We combine traditional research methods with bespoke data science to help our clients solve real-world challenges, from sustainable farming practices to healthier food choices. Our work is grounded in curiosity, creativity, and care – for people, data, and impact.

We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Data Analyst/Quant Researcher to join our small, friendly, and ambitious team. This role offers a chance to work across a wide variety of projects with clients ranging from government bodies and agri-tech start-ups to global food brands and farming charities.

You’ll be working on projects that involve survey data, behavioural models, and advanced analytics to help uncover the insights that drive decision-making. You’ll support our research managers and wider research team in delivering high-quality, meaningful analysis that has a tangible impact on the future of food, farming, and health. No two projects are the same, and you will have to be able to easily manage 2-3 projects at a time – if you get bored of the same thing, this one is for you.

An interest in food is essential for the role – from growing it to moving it and selling it, we have the whole supply chain covered from every angle – efficiency and tech to sustainability and environmental impact. We are a purpose-driven agency with a strong remit in improving health, environment, and nutrition through the research we do.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior team members to design and deliver market research projects with analytical components (e.g. segmentation, conjoint, driver analysis).
  • Clean, structure, and analyse quantitative survey data – from simple data tables through to multivariate analysis.
  • Work collaboratively with researchers and strategists to translate findings into insight-led stories and recommendations.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders with clarity and confidence – whether explaining methods or discussing results.
  • Contribute to continuous learning and innovation across the team by exploring new tools, techniques, and ways of working.

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Proficiency in market research software is essential – survey design, workflow integration, scripting, routing, and analysis.
  • Experience in SPSS, R, or Python a bonus.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to interpret data in the context of real-world client challenges – with an eye for what matters.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow as part of a multidisciplinary research team.

Familiarity with statistical techniques:

  • Regression (linear, logistic etc)

Working at Grounded Research

We’re a close-knit team of specialist researchers, marketers, and strategists who care deeply about the sectors we serve. We don’t just crunch numbers – we ask better questions, interrogate assumptions, challenge the status quo, and turn data into stories that make a difference. This is what keeps our clients coming back to us and has brought us recognition and success in our industry.

We’re committed to:

  • Flexible and supportive working that fits real lives
  • Investing in our people through ongoing learning and development
  • Championing diversity and inclusion in everything we do
  • Creating meaningful work with purpose

If you’re curious about the future of food and farming, care about using data for good, and want to work in a collaborative and friendly environment, we’d love to hear from you.
