Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor (614/25905)

Location: Hereford (HR2)
Commutable from: Hereford, Ross-on-Wye, Coleford, Ledbury, Monmouth

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum

Shift Pattern: Days Monday -Thursday 07:30 -17:30 Friday 07:30 - 16:30

Our prestigious client, a leading manufacturer in the heavy industry sector, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to ensure the reliability and optimal performance of their critical electrical and automation systems. With a strong commitment to operational excellence and minimizing downtime, they require a proactive and technically proficient professional to join their maintenance team.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead a diverse team of Maintenance Supervisors, Maintenance Engineers, Site Services, and Project Engineers to achieve excellence in site operations.
  • Work with site engineering leadership to execute engineering and production plans, maintain service levels, and advance engineering strategies while adhering to stringent quality, safety, and cost standards.
  • Champion the implementation of a comprehensive engineering strategy to enhance reliability, improve quality and safety standards, and optimize asset utilization across the site, leveraging both direct and indirect reports.
  • Maintain a "hands-on" approach, dedicating 50% of time to direct involvement and providing essential coverage during periods of absence.
  • Lead project management efforts and drive the successful implementation of change initiatives to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Mentor, train, and develop direct reports, fostering a high-performance culture through regular appraisals, performance management, and personalized development plans designed to maximize individual and team potential.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing engineering teams to achieve and exceed targets.
  • Time-served apprenticeship providing a robust understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices.
  • 5+ years' experience in medium/large automated manufacturing operations within a heavy industry, understanding its unique challenges and opportunities.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification (preferred) or demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Experienced in utilizing computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and stock control systems for optimized resource management.
  • Knowledge of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) principles to drive improvements in equipment performance and reduce downtime.
