Job Description
Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship
Duration: 4 years
Starting salary: £16,666
Location: East Grinstead
When you're helping build some of the most advanced power systems in the world, inspecting their components or maintaining the tools and machinery that support them, you need to be skilled at what you do. That's why we invest so much in training our Engineering Advanced Apprentices and offer the sort of real-world experience you can't get anywhere else.
Join us and you'll get up close with our amazing products or in the heart of our facilities. You can expect outstanding career support from day one, debt-free qualifications, and the chance to build an amazing career in a friendly, supportive environment where you can be yourself and be your best.
What you'll do
In your first year, you'll gain a strong foundation in the practical skills you need with one of our training providers. Over the following three years, you'll broaden and deepen your knowledge through a range of attachments within our Rolls-Royce Solutions UK business, all the while working towards completing your apprenticeship standard and gaining relevant engineering qualifications.
This is hands-on work. Throughout your apprenticeship you can expect to train on state-of-the-art products, equipment and machinery. All while being guided and supported by engineering experts.
You'll be working on live projects and earn as you learn through formal training as well as practical experience.
What could you become?
As an Engineering Technician, you'll learn to undertake detailed tasks such as maintenance and repair, and engine and component inspection. The skills, knowledge and experience you'll gain will help you to become a fully-fledged engineer, based in either a workshop environment or out in the field working directly alongside our customers where mtu systems power the largest yachts, the biggest land vehicles, or through solutions such as microgrids, we combine renewable energies to meet their power needs.
What you'll need
You'll need a minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4/C which must include Maths, English Language, Science (excluding Biology) and one other subject at grade 4/C. Obtained or predicted.
Beyond your qualifications, we want to see evidence that you're genuinely interested in the practical side of engineering or hands-on activities. For example, we'd like to hear if you enjoy figuring out how things work; fixing things, or about an engineering or practical project you've done at school or home or a club you've been involved with. We'll provide you with a fantastic framework and all the opportunities you need to progress, but it'll be up to you to lead your own development. So, you must be full of initiative, adaptable, eager to learn and driven to succeed.
Our behaviours drive us - we put safety first, do the right thing, keep it simple and make a difference. We'll expect that of you, too.
