An established industry player is seeking an experienced Radiographer to lead the MRI department at a prestigious hospital. This role is pivotal in managing MRI operations and ensuring high-quality patient care while driving down waiting times. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a passion for improving services. With opportunities for professional development and a supportive team environment, this position offers a chance to make a significant impact in the healthcare sector. Join a dedicated team committed to excellence in patient care and innovation in imaging services.
A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Radiographer to lead the MRI department within the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital. GJUNH provides essential imaging capacity for patients across Scotland under its remit as the National Waiting Times Centre, alongside specialist imaging services as the West of Scotland Cardiothoracic Centre. The department currently has 4 MRI Scanners, 2 CT scanners, 5 Cardiac Cath Labs, 4 plain film rooms, 1 Dexa Scanner, 1 dual purpose Imaging/Fluoroscopy room, as well as numerous Image Intensifiers and mobile units. There are three Ultrasound rooms and in addition, we also host the National Ultrasound Training Programme within our unit.
The MRI Lead Radiographer role is central to delivering our commitment to drive down patient waiting times for Health Boards across Scotland. This role is to manage three Siemens MRI scanners performing a range of General MRI scans (non-Cardiac), staffed with a blend of core and rotational Radiographers. This modality deals overwhelmingly with outpatient activity, as well as a small number of inpatients across the working week, rarely including intensive care. The department operates an extended working day and is open Monday to Friday (no on-call) and as such, there is an opportunity for a condensed working week. You will work very closely with the Cardiac MRI Lead Radiographer to provide an optimal service to our patients, considerate of staff skill mix and dynamic prioritisation, joining a wider team of skilled and supportive Lead Radiographers.
The department has a structured CPD programme; clinical supervision and VBRP are developing under the Board-approved AHP strategy. Post Graduate learning and conference attendance are supported on a regular basis and the right candidate will have opportunities to grow their knowledge and skills through participation in research, as well as developing their leadership style through coaching, mentoring and formal learning. This role would appeal to those with proven MRI leadership experience, as well as core/clinically excellent rotational MRI Radiographers with a passion to drive improvement.
