Role Overview
As the Head of Talent Acquisition, you will be responsible for creating and executing a strategic talent acquisition plan aligned with the company's growth objectives. This includes building a high-caliber recruitment function, developing robust candidate pipelines, and establishing our employer brand within the competitive biotech and tech markets. You will lead a team of recruiters and collaborate closely with executives, hiring managers, and other stakeholders to identify and attract top talent across various functions, from R&D to commercial and corporate roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Talent Acquisition Strategy
- Develop and execute a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy that aligns with the company’s goals and objectives.
- Drive workforce planning in collaboration with senior leadership to identify critical hiring needs and prioritise recruitment efforts.
- Build scalable recruitment processes, leveraging data and analytics to optimise efficiency, reduce time-to-hire, and improve candidate quality.
- Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of high-performing recruiters, sourcers, and coordinators, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Promote a data-driven and agile recruitment approach within the team, continuously enhancing skills and capabilities.
- Talent Sourcing and Recruitment
- Lead recruitment for key strategic hires, especially in scientific, technical, and executive roles.
- Drive innovative sourcing strategies to engage passive candidates, leveraging networks, social media, partnerships with universities, and industry events.
- Ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process, maintaining high standards of communication and engagement.
- Employer Branding
- Develop and promote our employer brand to establish the company as an employer of choice within the genomics and biotech sectors.
- Partner with marketing and communications teams to create content, attend events, and build a presence on key platforms that reach target audiences.
- Ensure the company’s values, culture, and mission are represented authentically in all candidate interactions and recruitment materials.
- Recruitment Operations and Technology
- Implement and optimise applicant tracking systems (ATS) and recruitment technologies to enhance efficiency and reporting capabilities.
- Establish metrics and reporting mechanisms to track recruitment KPIs, using data insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
- Develop strategies to enhance diversity within the organisation, ensuring an inclusive and representative recruitment process.
- Promote inclusive hiring practices, training hiring managers and the talent team on DEI best practices.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: 8+ years of experience in talent acquisition, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within a biotech, life sciences, or technology-focused organisation.
- Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of the biotech, genomics, or healthcare sectors, including the talent landscape and key roles within these industries.
- Leadership: Proven track record of leading, developing, and scaling recruitment teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Strategic Mindset: Ability to align recruitment strategies with business goals and drive long-term talent acquisition success.
- Data-Driven: Strong analytical skills, with experience in using metrics and data to drive recruitment decisions and continuous improvement.
- Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities; skilled at influencing stakeholders and managing competing priorities.
- Innovation: Demonstrated creativity and ability to think outside the box to attract hard-to-find talent and build an engaging employer brand.
