Job description

We are looking for a Facilities Assistant to join our Facilities team in Midlothian.

Working as a Facilities Assistant, you will be responsible for providing facilities support within the Midlothian Schools PPP2 cluster; this principally involves dealing with events via Helpdesk which will include security, reception, portering, and caretaking services but also includes maintenance activities.

What You’ll Do:

  • Carrying out routine checks and inspection of facilities and equipment.
  • Undertaking minor maintenance work such as lamp changing.
  • Providing initial response to any reported faults.
  • Carrying out repairs to fixtures and fittings.
  • Dismantling/re-erecting systems furniture.
  • Some touch up painting and decorating.
  • Moving all parcels, paperwork, materials, and equipment around the buildings.
  • Assisting with minor and major moves within the school.
  • Manage the signing in of subcontractors for Skanska.

What You'll Bring to the Role:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use office computer systems including e-mail, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and prioritise conflicting work demands.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
