A fantastic specialist school in Newbury that caters to pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs is looking for a Sports Graduate or Sports Coach to work as a Learning Mentor and help support their pupils through physical activity.
The school provides support to children aged 3 to 16 who have a range of learning and behaviour needs, alongside social, emotional, and mental health challenges. The school has small class sizes and creates a safe learning environment for children who suffer from high levels of anxiety, which can result in a lack of focus and challenging behaviour. So you need to be bubbly, enthusiastic, and ready for a challenge!
As the students follow an alternative curriculum, the school has a big focus on using sporting activities to help build the pupils' self-esteem, teamwork skills, and well-being. Using your sporting background, you will help the students both in and outside the classroom to remain on task, engaged, and motivated to reach their full potential.
The successful Learning Mentor will come from a sporting background, with either a Level 3 qualification or a degree. Experience working with children would be beneficial, but personality and willingness to help others are most important! This is an excellent opportunity for a Sports Graduate interested in a career in youth work, sports coaching, or mental health.
If you are a Sports Graduate and interested in this SEN Learning Mentor role, please apply today!
