We are working with a well-established construction company operating in the Torquay area. With a strong portfolio in groundworks, civil engineering, and external construction.

The Role: We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Site Manager / General Foreman to oversee the externals and groundworks on a project in the Torquay area. This role is crucial to ensuring the smooth running of our operations, maintaining high standards of safety and quality, and working closely with the wider project team to meet project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day management of site activities, focusing on externals and groundworks
  • Supervising and coordinating subcontractors and labour teams
  • Ensuring all works are carried out in line with health and safety regulations
  • Monitoring project progress and ensuring work is delivered to high standards
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and the project management team
  • Managing resources, materials, and equipment effectively
  • Reporting on project status, identifying issues and proposing solutions
  • Conducting regular site inspections to maintain compliance with company standards

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar role within groundworks and externals
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in construction
  • CSCS card (required), SMSTS (preferred)
  • A proactive, problem-solving approach to work
