Legal Assistant Responsibilities:
- Support fee earners in managing residential property transactions from start to completion
- Handle client correspondence via telephone, email, and in person
- Prepare and process legal documentation including contracts, transfers, and mortgage deeds
- Conduct property searches and review results
- Liaise with estate agents, mortgage lenders, and other solicitors
- Maintain accurate case files and update case management systems
- Assist with post-completion matters including SDLT returns and registration
- Monitor deadlines and chase outstanding information from various parties
- Prepare completion statements and bills
- Handle client funds in accordance with SRA regulations
- Provide administrative support to the wider team as required
Legal Assistant Requirements:
- Previous residential conveyancing experience is essential (minimum 2 years)
- Strong understanding of the conveyancing process and relevant legislation
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems
- Professional and client-focused approach
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to delivering exceptional client service
- Positive "can-do" attitude and willingness to learn
