Description

Diversity matters
We are building a brand that represents the people of the world. It's what you do that counts, and we are always looking to expand perspectives and voices to shape our future.
We see you, we celebrate you, we want you!

Who we are
You might know us as the inventors of the bath bomb, but there's more to this great-smelling, partly employee owned, family-run company than pioneering cosmetics. We believe our business should put more back into the world than it takes and demonstrate that capitalism can be a force for good. We put our people first and fight cruel practices like animal testing, promote regeneration, and show that it is what's inside that counts - whether that's an ingredient in a product, or the minerals in a smartphone.

This is a hybrid role with travel into the Poole office expected one day a week.

The Team
The Supply Chain Impact team sits alongside our Buying team to ensure suppliers uphold Lush's social and environmental ethics and policies, and with our Compliance team to manage wider external standards and legislation; all whilst working to improve transparency and relationships internally and externally within the supply network.

Please note: We may close this vacancy early if we receive an overwhelming response or our business requirements change.

The Role
As the Buying Team Policy Coordinator at Lush Cosmetics, you'll be working at the heart of Lush's Buying Team to help support the implementation of Lush's Buying policy and Non-Animal Testing (NAT) policy, and actively promote the fighting of animal testing in the cosmetic industry. This is an ever-evolving and dynamic role that will require flexibility to support Social Impact Leads on other projects within the Supply Chain Impact team.

    • Updating Lush Policies (NAT & BP) as appropriate and ensuring these are issued to all relevant suppliers (new and existing)
    • Safeguard and represent Lush's policies on NAT and ethical standards in supplier discussions, representing an independent and clear position
    • Annual review of NAT - global coordination of the review, liaising with our external partner and seeking budget approval
    • Liaising with buyers to ensure declarations and policies are returned on time, supporting them with any non-compliance issues and providing remediation support
    • Uploading all historic and current signed declarations / policies onto supply chain transparency software
    • Creating and delivering training sessions and notes for internal colleagues and suppliers
    • NAT support for B2B work and collaborations, as well as Partner markets, when required
  2. Global Policy support
    • Supporting local coordinators in background research and resolving queries
    • Maintaining an overview of any global issues relating to policies and escalate internally where appropriate
    • Liaising with global suppliers where necessary (along with global coordinators) to provide further understanding and support with suppliers
    • Supporting the teams on resourcing of materials that fall out of scope with Lush Policies, ensuring that these are logged and actioned in appropriate timelines
    • Leading NAT & BP work with Global Kitchens, ensuring global compliance
  3. Additional NAT duties
    • Liaise with internal stakeholders (including Directors) around future legislations or changes that impact our NAT policy and commitment to fighting animal testing.
    • Conducting background research on suppliers around testing before asking further relevant questions where necessary to ensure compliance;
    • Pioneering Fighting Animal Testing in the wider supply network through educating suppliers on alternative testing, legislations and Lush's work on fighting animal testing
    • Organise and deliver Global Annual Non-Animal Testing team catch-ups
    • Support Lush's internal efforts to fight Animal Testing through supporting with the coordination of Lush Prize if / when needed and offering non-scientific research support for Toxicology team / Legal Director when needed

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
