Communications & PR Manager

We are looking for an experienced Communications and PR Manager to drive and enhance our brand presence in the education and training sectors. In this role, you will work across the SCL group, focusing on SCL College and SCL Professional, to build our reputation as a leader in education and professional training. You will develop and execute effective communication strategies that resonate with diverse audiences and promote our programmes, partnerships, and impact in education. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, strategic insight, and a results-driven mindset to effectively communicate our mission, achievements, and values.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategy Development & Execution:
   Develop, implement, and evaluate communications and PR strategies to enhance SCL’s brand awareness and support enrolment and engagement goals.
   Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure communications align with the company’s vision, objectives, and values.
2. Content Creation & Storytelling:
   Create a variety of compelling content (press releases, blogs, articles, case studies, newsletters, website content) that highlights our achievements, programmes, and partnerships in education and training.
   Write SEO-optimised content for website pages to improve search visibility and attract relevant audiences, ensuring consistent brand messaging and voice.
3. Media Relations:
   Build and maintain strong relationships with media contacts, journalists, and industry influencers in the education and sports training sectors.
   Proactively pitch stories, coordinate media enquiries, and manage responses to build and sustain positive coverage.
4. Internal Communication:
   Support internal communications to ensure staff across the group are informed, aligned, and engaged with our mission and ongoing initiatives.
   Develop communication materials, newsletters, and updates for staff and stakeholders.
5. Event Management & Public Engagement:
   Support planning and execution of events such as open days, graduation ceremonies, partner events, and networking functions.
   Ensure events align with brand objectives and drive engagement with key stakeholders.
6. Data Analysis & Reporting:
   Track and analyse the performance of communication initiatives and campaigns, adjusting strategies as needed based on insights.
   Provide regular reports on PR and communication effectiveness, including media coverage, website traffic, and campaign performance.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
2. 5+ years of experience in PR and communications, preferably within the education or training sectors.
3. Proven track record in developing successful PR and communication strategies that drive awareness and engagement.
4. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with an eye for detail.
5. Experience in media relations and a network of relevant media contacts.
6. Knowledge of SEO best practices for website content to improve search engine rankings.
7. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
8. Proficient in using PR and marketing tools (e.g., Meltwater, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
