The pricing manager will play a key role in managing the pricing strategy for commodities trading division, with a focus on ferrous, non-ferrous, and other related commodities. The Pricing Manager will work closely with our trading, purchasing, sales, and shipping teams to provide accurate, competitive, and market-driven pricing recommendations while ensuring profitability and aligning with market trends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pricing Strategy Development: Develop, implement, and monitor pricing strategies for and related commodities, ensuring they are competitive and in line with market conditions.
- Market Analysis: Continuously analyse market trends, commodity price fluctuations, and economic conditions to provide timely and informed pricing updates.
- Collaboration with Trading and Sales Teams: Work closely with the trading, sales, and purchasing teams to align pricing strategies with sales goals and procurement requirements.
- Risk Management: Assess pricing risks and develop strategies to mitigate any exposure to price volatility in the commodities market.
- Costing and Margin Analysis: Ensure accurate costings for the products, monitor profit margins, and optimize pricing to maximize profitability.
- Data Management and Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed pricing models, reports, and dashboards. Provide regular updates to senior management on market conditions, price trends, and margin analysis.
- Vendor and Client Negotiations: Assist in negotiations with vendors, clients, and shipping partners to ensure optimal pricing agreements and favourable terms.
- Compliance and Audit: Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and external regulatory requirements related to pricing practices.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and pricing methodologies to drive improvements in the pricing process.
Qualifications:
- Pricing: Strong understanding of financial principles, costing, and margin analysis.
- Experience: At least 5-7 years of experience in pricing management, commodities trading, or the steel/coal industry.
- Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of the commodities trading landscape, including market dynamics, pricing models, and economic factors affecting pricing in the steel and coal sectors.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to develop pricing models, perform margin analysis, and evaluate financial impacts of pricing decisions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex pricing information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with pricing software, financial modelling tools, and Microsoft Excel at an advanced level.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Ability to work cross-functionally with various teams, including sales, trading, and operations, to drive pricing strategies and business goals.
- Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy in financial reporting and pricing decisions.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in a commodities trading environment or shipping business is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with risk management and hedging strategies in the commodities market.
- Experience with contract negotiations and managing vendor/client relationships.
