The client is a leading bank with services across retail and business banking. They are looking to hire a Marketing and Planning Director to take a senior leadership role in devising planning and operational strategy across core segments nationally.
This role is based in London, with hybrid working.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities of the Marketing and Planning Director:
Manage a business function, providing significant input to function-wide strategic initiatives. Contribute to and influence policy and procedures for the function and plan, manage, and consult on multiple complex and critical strategic projects, which may be business-wide.
Manage the direction of a large team or sub-function, leading other people managers and embedding a performance culture aligned to the values of the business. For an individual contributor, lead organization-wide projects and act as a deep technical expert and thought leader, identifying new ways of working and collaborating cross-functionally. Train, guide, and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long-term profits, organizational risks, and strategic decisions.
Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function-wide strategic initiatives.
Manage, coordinate, and enable resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
Escalate breaches of policies/procedures appropriately.
Foster and guide compliance, ensuring regulations are observed and relevant processes are in place to facilitate adherence.
Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of the bank, when appropriate.
Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division/group to achieve overall business objectives.
Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector/functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments/initiatives.
Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/sensitive situations.
Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/business divisions.
Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
Development and Delivery of Strategic Marketing & Customer Planning Capability
Work in close collaboration with Marketing & Design and functional colleagues to assist in the development of both short and mid-term marketing strategy to support commercial and customer aspirations, including the delivery of the annual marketing and integrated communications plan.
Lead on Marketing input to the planning process, including all quarterly rolling planning.
Lead on Marketing measurement and reporting into Finance, bank, and wider product and segment forums.
Partner closely with Insights and Analytical teams to ensure robust interpretation and actionable plans are formed around relevant data/insights analysis to assist in the marketing strategy creation. Oversee and develop the Marketing planning capability and output.
Own and optimize the aggregated Marketing rolling planning process, working collaboratively with the relevant departments in the wider Marketing function to provide a well-managed and effective plan.
Define and lead our investment optimization process - overseeing the Quarterly review of the plan as well as Mid-Term Plan (MTP) development.
Keep our Head of Marketing & Design and Senior Marketing stakeholders engaged at key points of the delivery cycle - both for our annual Mid-Term Plan as well as during Quarterly Planning cycles.

Will have worked in financial services or else leading consumer/retail or FMCG brands.
