Job Purpose
To support a gentleman with autism and other coexisting health conditions to live an independent life. You will provide support as a Personal Assistant in his home and outside his home. This role will be interesting due to his personal activities and volunteering roles advocating for disabled people, for someone who is looking to expand their knowledge and understanding of physical, mental health, and neurodiversity.

Duties To Include
- Meal preparation, including support with food shopping and batch cooking.
- Help with personal care, including support with showering and/or bathing.
- Support with personal shopping, including online shopping or shopping in the community.
- General domestic tasks including laundry, changing bed linen, ironing, and housekeeping.
- Basic IT and admin support, including communicating with medical professionals, ordering prescriptions, coordinating health and social care needs, and managing household bills and finances.
- Support with accessing facilities or attending medical appointments.
- Engagement in socially inclusive activities, such as days out and trips to local community attractions.
- Any other reasonable duties as required.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have a love of cooking nutritious food, be patient, empathetic, and have an understanding of autism and neurodivergent people.
Essential
- Ability to cook healthy, nutritious meals from scratch.
- Good understanding of disabling barriers in the physical world and using technology.
- Compassionate, empathetic, kind, supportive, and a good communicator.
- Passionate about enabling the gentleman to live an independent life.
- Working knowledge of confidentiality; you will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
- Good timekeeping and attention to detail.
- Professional demeanor, free from distractions such as social media.
Summary Terms And Conditions
The rate of pay for this position is £14.00 per hour. You will be reimbursed for any agreed expenses incurred as part of the role. Hours are flexible up to 16 hours per week, ideally with availability to work a block of hours on a Friday.
The post is subject to the following:
- A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, cost covered by the employer.
- Satisfactory references from two referees, one being your current or last employer.
- Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 6 months.
