Job Title: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Location: Remote / working from home
Contract: Part-time 22.5 hours per week
About Us
Tir Dewi is a small but impactful charity dedicated to the cause of supporting farmers and their families through difficult times and wholly established throughout Wales. Our trained volunteers and staff make a meaningful difference in assisting farmers to tackle a diverse range of problems. We are now seeking an inspiring and strategic leader to take the charity forward.
The Role
The COO will provide visionary leadership, drive growth and reach as well as overseeing the effective management of the charity. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the COO will be responsible for promoting the impact of our work, fostering relationships with stakeholders, and leading a small team to deliver our mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership: Develop and implement Tir Dewi’s strategic vision, its operational plans and policies in collaboration with the Board of Trustees.
- Governance & Compliance: Ensure that Tir Dewi adheres to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, maintaining transparency and accountability.
- Financial Management: Oversee budgeting and financial planning to ensure sustainability and growth.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain meaningful relationships with funders, partners, media outlets, and the wider community.
- Operational Oversight: Lead and mentor a small and dedicated team, ensuring efficient delivery of Tir Dewi’s portfolio of services.
- Fundraising & Income Generation: Oversee the development and implementation of strategies to secure funding through grants, donations, partnerships, and other sources.
- Advocacy & Public Relations: Represent the public face of Tir Dewi, raising its profile and advocating for its mission and purpose.
Person Specification
- Proven leadership experience in the charity, non-profit, or public sector.
- Experience in fundraising, income generation and business development.
- Excellent relationship-building, networking and communication skills.
- Ability to inspire and lead a small team.
- Experience of working with and supporting a team of volunteers.
- Passion for Tir Dewi’s mission and commitment to making a difference within the agricultural community.
- Possess a full UK driving licence.
- Experience of working with a Board of Trustees.
- Knowledge of relevant charity laws and compliance requirements.
- Understanding of digital and social media for awareness and fundraising.
- Fluency in the Welsh language is highly desirable.
