Earlier this year, a senior data leader was appointed to spearhead this transformation. These are remote roles with office presence likely to be weekly or bi-weekly. Interviewing will start mid-December via a remote process.

Role Overview

As the Head of Data Engineering Manager, you will design, develop, and scale the company's data infrastructure, ensuring it supports business growth and delivers measurable value. Reporting directly to the senior data leader, you will lead a hands-on team, utilising the Azure Data Stack, including Synapse, to develop robust pipelines and solutions. Collaborating with teams across Data Governance and BI, you will ensure that data engineering efforts align seamlessly with the company’s broader data strategy. A key part of your role will also involve implementing controls and mitigating risks, which makes financial services experience essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a data engineering strategy aligned with business goals.
• Utilise the Azure Data Stack (including Synapse) to build scalable, secure, and efficient data pipelines and architecture.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the Data Engineering team, ensuring a collaborative and results-driven environment.
• Ensure robust controls and processes are in place to mitigate risks and comply with regulatory standards.
• Partner with BI and Data Governance teams to ensure data availability, integrity, and quality.
• Drive continuous improvement in data infrastructure to enable advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in a senior Data Engineering role, ideally within financial services or a similar regulated environment.
• Strong expertise in Azure Data Stack, including Synapse, cloud platforms, and programming languages like Python, Java, or SQL.
• Experience implementing controls and managing risks within a data infrastructure.
• A hands-on approach combined with the ability to scale and lead high-performing teams.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with a proactive and adaptable mindset.
