An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Admin Assistant based at Royal Stoke Hospital, Nephrology Department. This is a post for someone looking to join the NHS and work within an experienced secretarial team in a hospital environment.

The post holder will need to demonstrate good communication skills, flexibility, reliability, and have an organised approach to their work. They will have skills in all areas of administrative functions to support the patient pathway.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support a team of Band 4 Medical Secretaries and Band 3 Medical Support Secretaries to provide a safe and reliable administrative service. Responsibilities include:

  1. Communicating information, both written and verbal, with patients, staff, and carers requiring tact and diplomacy.
  2. Handling telephone and other communications with sensitivity and confidentiality.
  3. Maintaining good working relationships and working as an effective team member.
  4. Ensuring their own work is of a high standard and sharing the day-to-day workload of the specialty team.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Good general education to include GCSE English or equivalent.
  • RSA III word processing or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Clerical background.
  • Experience working in an Acute Trust.
  • Audio typing experience.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office package.
  • Knowledge of Hospital administration and other related systems (e.g., CareFlow/iPortal).
