High Intensity Therapist Group Coordinator - Band 7

At Talking Therapies Barking and Dagenham (TTBD), we are looking for a dedicated individual to take on a pivotal role in managing and delivering group-based interventions. If you thrive in primary care services, excel in dynamic environments, and lead collaborative teams, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

You will be an integral part of a multi-professional team committed to expanding access to Group Therapy for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, and other common mental health conditions. At TTBD, we are at the forefront of this transformation, offering Group Therapy with the stepped care model.

Alongside group therapy, you will be required to offer individual therapy and conduct telephone/face-to-face assessments as part of your caseload. Having sound knowledge of disorder specific CBT interventions is essential. You will be expected to work autonomously and operate within the service’s business hours (8am-8pm) by offering a minimum of one evening per week. Therefore, flexibility regarding working hours is important.

TTBD actively encourages a team approach, and commitment to the team’s shared values and ethos must be demonstrated through regular attendance of team meetings, supervision and operating within the service’s local policies and procedures.

Main duties of the job

• Deliver training to enhance the skills and knowledge of the Group Therapy Team, and actively participate in strategy meetings, influencing and shaping the future direction of Group Therapy Services
• Offer supervision to the Group Therapy team as directed

• Organised monthly CPD that counts towards BABCP requirements
• Training in NICE compliant interventions for depression and anxiety disorders
• Regular clinical supervision, case/line management meetings and access to triage assessment supervision
• Access to supportive learning through monthly peer/LTC supervision

Working for our organisation

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement – London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary with a minimum payment of £4,552 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum (pro rata for part-time).

Person specification

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification in CBT or Professional Doctorate (or its equivalent) in Clinical or Counselling Psychology
• BABCP accreditation for CBT Therapists (or working towards) / HCPC registration for Practitioner Psychologists (or working towards). Practitioner Psychologists will be expected to work towards accreditation with the BABCP within probationary period.
• Additional advanced training in CBT, EMDR, or other therapeutic interventions applied to a primary care service.

Experience

• Experience of working in adult mental health services
• Experience of working in primary care mental health
• Experience of providing supervision/consultation to other staff or services

Knowledge and skills

• Able to carry out highly skilled and complex psychological assessments with clients
• Able to choose most appropriate forms of psychological therapy to fit client need while working within Talking Therapies (IAPT) model
• Knowledge of current psychological interventions applied to people with mild-moderate psychological distress
• To provide advice to others in specialist areas of psychology and therapy
