Job description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join our adult community team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.

This exciting opportunity offers the chance to develop your skills working with adults with acquired communication and/or swallowing difficulties. You’ll provide therapy in a range of settings including patient homes, care homes, and intermediate care wards.

You will be supported through regular supervision, CPD opportunities, and be part of a team committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based care across a range of adult acquired conditions, including stroke and long-term conditions.

Main Responsibility

1. Deliver assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for adults with acquired communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
2. Work across community and inpatient intermediate care settings.
3. Manage a caseload under the guidance of senior SLTs, with opportunities to grow clinical autonomy.
4. Contribute to service development and ongoing improvement.
5. Collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, person-centred care.
6. Maintain accurate records and uphold professional standards in line with HCPC and RCSLT requirements.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for a Band 6 SLT or a Band 5 SLT ready to consolidate their experience in adult community work. You should have:

1. HCPC registration and degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
2. Experience or interest in working with adult acquired disorders.
3. Dysphagia experience is desirable.
4. Excellent communication and teamworking skills.
5. A proactive attitude and desire to learn and contribute.
