Deputy Care Manager – Children’s Home
£34,000 - £39,000 per annum + Performance related bonus + Sleep allowance
40 hours per week

Meridian Business Support is currently recruiting for a Deputy Care Manager to work for a small Children’s Residential Home in the Bingley area of West Yorkshire.

The company is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Deputy Manager to join their hard working team. As a Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Care Home Manager in achieving successful and compliant operation of the care home. The Deputy Manager will provide support and leadership to care home staff and provide a high-quality service and lead by example. This individual should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children and young people in a residential setting in the last five years.

Successful candidates will:
  • Support the Registered Care Home Manager in auditing documentation to ensure best practice.
  • Ensure that all staff members contribute to the best of their ability to the efficient running of the care home and to the creation of an atmosphere conducive to the best interest of young persons.
  • Complete audits and review care plans.
  • Have a performance management system in place to audit comprehensively in line with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards, e.g. Regulation 44, Ofsted Inspections, Regulation 45 Reports.
  • Liaise with health professionals regarding young persons’ care needs.
  • Ensure meals are of sufficient quantity and quality so that young persons’ dietary needs are met.
  • Undertake general personal care as appropriate.
  • Supervise and instruct junior and new staff members in all aspects of their work practice.
  • Organise workload in the absence of the Registered Care Home Manager, by forward planning of rotas to ensure that there is sufficient staff cover and deal with problems where necessary.

Experience and qualifications required for the role:
  • Must be a driver with access to own vehicle.
  • Ideal candidates will have DipSW, CQSW, NVQ 4 or equivalent qualifications.
  • Ideal candidates will have a Level 5 Management qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children and young people in residential or similar setting over the last 5 years.
  • Proven track record of leadership and direct management experience of supervision, development of staff, minimum of one year.
  • Detailed knowledge of the regulatory framework, Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, New Quality Standards.
  • Financial management experience including management and monitoring of staff resources and procurement of budgets.

  • Salary range starts from £45,000 for candidates looking to move from a Deputy Manager position into the Registered Care Manager role.
