Purpose

The Hardware Configuration and Repair Engineer at Global Payments Stadia and Events will play a key role in ensuring all hardware - POS, Mobile POS, Card Terminals and Self Service Units - are prepared efficiently and effectively to fulfill customer orders and engineering requirements and schedules.

The Hardware Configuration and Repair Engineer executes hardware solutions, carries out repairs identifying issues customers may be experiencing and resolves these issues to ensure complete customer satisfaction, working to instructions from the Warehouse and Device Configuration Manager.

With a strong background in technology hardware, the Hardware Configuration and Repair Engineer will also possess and demonstrate excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Mistakes are costly to our business and to our customers and therefore we need a team member who can operate in a fast paced environment helping us to deliver effectively for our clients and stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Understanding the requirement of the clients whilst carrying out configuration of EPOS hardware, carrying out repairs: tills and printers (internal/external).

  2. Owner of all hardware configuration and set up prior to install - including fixed POS, POS Medias and Self-Service Kiosks. All elements need to be configured accurately and efficiently minimizing issues seen on site with the kit.

  3. Working with the necessary vendor/partner, to understand, configure and support kitchen video systems.

  4. Workshop based work - doing configurations of EPOS hardware including servicing of loan units: POS, printers, and other related equipment (replacing broken parts, refurbishing, testing etc.).

  5. Ensure accurate and efficient parts/stock use when on repairs related tasks. Identify correct usage of new/refurbished parts - based on hardware age/condition and client.

  6. Follows warehouse stock procedures (work with jobs sheets, marking faulty parts and equipment etc.).

  7. Preparation of Card Terminal orders accurately and efficiently. Familiar with all procedures and processes relating to all card terminals (whether Lanes, Moves or Nucleus) including Software Loading, TMS and thorough Testing.

  8. Prepare card payment terminals for dispatch, including testing, cleaning, correctly and securely boxing and some configuration of settings and setup.

  9. Cleaning and testing card payment terminals between events/deployments as they return to the warehouse.

  10. Hands on, sensitive, work dealing with high volume and urgent requests.

  11. Other workshop duties will be required, i.e. moving hardware and loading / unloading equipment.

  12. Provide Workshop based equipment maintenance during non-Event time as required.

  13. Keep the workspace and workshop neat and tidy all the time (keeping tools and parts organized).

  14. Occasional callouts and assistance in the field may be required to support the wider business operation.

  15. Occasional remote support of hardware and software issues.

  16. Assist and Support the Management and Leadership Teams in achieving departmental and company objectives.

  17. Assisting with stock takes and audit preparation.

  18. Keep all hardware items organised in designated locations.

  19. Be flexible and prepared to take on additional tasks as and when required.

  20. Report any concerns regarding the suitability, security or use of company hardware and software to the Warehouse and Device Configuration Manager.

  21. Technical and operational issues are escalated in a timely fashion to Warehouse and Device Configuration Manager.

  22. Ensure that the workplace operates in compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

  23. Ensure that all company standards and policies are implemented and maintained.

Qualifications

  1. Have some IT or engineering experience / qualifications.

  2. Training will be given on all hardware where required.

  3. Basic IT knowledge – operating systems, IP configuration work.

  4. Basic software knowledge (back office and EPOS software).
