Job description

Generator Technician, Ipswich

Monday-Friday - Permanent

Competitive salary + overtime + company van + bonus.

We are seeking an experienced Generator Technician to join a busy diesel generator division specialising in the service, maintenance and repair of diesel generators and associated equipment. Our client, a leading multi-disciplined engineering business, offers ongoing support, training, and development in addition to a varied and team-spirited environment within this long-standing, highly regarded business. A full UK driving licence is required due to the nature of the role.

Outline of the role

  1. Service, maintenance and repair of diesel generators and associated equipment.
  2. Attend offsite breakdowns.
  3. Fault finding and diagnosis.
  4. Load bank testing.
  5. Provide 24-hour emergency cover on call-out rota (1 week in 5).
  6. Assist in the installation of diesel generators.

Experience and skills required

  1. Experience in electrical/mechanical engineering with supporting qualifications.
  2. Approved electrician (18th edition) - advantageous.
  3. Knowledge of common generator control systems.
  4. Adapt to changing workload and be flexible to suit department needs.
  5. Organised, self-motivated and a team player.
  6. Basic level of IT proficiency.
  7. Full UK driving licence.

Experience with installations in an industrial environment will be highly beneficial.

You will be fully supported in the role; you will be provided with a fully expensed company van and phone. In addition, you will be equipped with the latest diagnostic software to provide customers with the highest level of service.
