Job description

Health and Safety Officer

Location: Swindon (Fully Onsite Role)

Job Type: Full-Time

Driving License Required: Must have a valid driving license as the role involves working across two sites in Swindon.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct weekly fire extinguisher checks.
  2. Perform weekly fire alarm call points checks.
  3. Carry out monthly ladder inspections.
  4. Conduct weekly defibrillator checks.
  5. Perform monthly health and safety inspections.
  6. Test emergency lights on a monthly basis.
  7. Update the health and safety personnel list regularly.
  8. Review and update existing Health and Safety procedures.
  9. Help to develop and implement new Health and Safety procedures.
  10. Conduct manual handling assessments.
  11. Perform Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessments.
  12. Check and restock first aid boxes and eye wash stations.
  13. Monitor and update first aid stock.
  14. Maintain and update the training matrix; provide training to staff.
  15. Conduct COSHH risk assessments for cleaning products and production-packaged products.
  16. Perform risk assessments for machines, production lines, warehouses, and car parks.
  17. Prepare induction packs, verify right to work, and conduct staff inductions.
  18. Update the fire register regularly.

Qualifications:
  1. 1-2 years' proven experience in a similar Health and Safety role.
  2. Must be NEBOSH qualified and able to write risk assessments.
  3. Strong experience from a manufacturing H&S setting - food, pharma or medical strongly preferred.
  4. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
