TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products and are responsible for product development and qualification from market definition through production and release. They assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes. Responsibilities include conducting feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs, and supporting detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication, and manufacturing ramp. The teams provide all required product documentation including Solid Models, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches, or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical, and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.
• Visual, mechanical, and electrical inspection and testing of products at all stages of manufacture to support existing business for quality, cost reduction, or obsolescence reasons.
• Extrusion and twin-screw processing of R&D trials for NPD and sustaining activities.
• Operating various R&D processing equipment.
• Technical support for customers and business both in-house and off-site.
• Participation in training courses.
• Technical support for the development of new products, techniques, or practices.
• Ability to understand design elements of TE Connectivity’s products.
• Use technical schematics, engineering drawings, and testing tools to ensure product quality.
• Developing new testing methods as technology evolves.
• Preparation and maintenance of project files, creation of process control documents, preparation and maintenance of Codes of Practice.
• Interpretation of specifications and quality standards.
• Troubleshooting, calibrating, and writing reports.
• Contribute to the innovation within Product Engineering and the business.
• Lab management – as applicable.
Qualifications & specialist training required / beneficial:
• HNC, or Apprenticeship training in engineering or equivalent.
Experience required:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with laboratory testing and qualification testing.
• Experience in extrusion and/or twin-screw processing.
Particular skill/aptitude required:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Technical by nature with a practical hands-on approach.
• Knowledge of quality control procedures, techniques, and test methods.
• Ability to adjust/use test equipment (i.e., tensometers, ovens, freezers, HV cage).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Internet Explorer.
• Ability to read all types of drawings.
• Good record keeping.
• Teamwork.
• ‘Can do’ attitude.

• Suitable training will be provided depending on previous experience.
