Summary: A Global Hedge Fund in London is looking to onboard a seasoned Risk Manager to play a pivotal role in the growth and development of the Discretionary Risk team, with a particular focus on fixed income and credit strategies, but will also be involved across asset classes. You will work with investment professionals and senior management.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage risk across funds and collaborate with Portfolio Managers (PMs) and investment teams to ensure a clear understanding of the current risk profile. Address and resolve issues promptly as they arise.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the performance and risk drivers of Discretionary strategies, engaging proactively with investment teams.
  • Utilise your expertise to improve risk management processes and infrastructure, while promoting best practices across the organization.
  • Communicate key risk information clearly and concisely to Senior Management and the Discretionary Risk Committee, ensuring full transparency of risk issues.
  • Conduct research into advanced risk measurement and management techniques, collaborating with Investment, Quantitative, and Tech teams to develop robust risk frameworks and play a pivotal role in strategy formulation.
  • Stay on top of market developments and share forward-looking risk analysis with the team, senior management, and PMs.
  • Support the growth and development of the risk team and other departments by providing guidance and training.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10+ years of experience in risk management within a hedge fund, with a focus on fixed income and credit.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present detailed analysis and key insights clearly to senior management and the global investment team.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages.
  • In-depth Knowledge: A comprehensive understanding of risk management techniques.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently while also contributing to broader team goals within a global team structure.
  • A degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, engineering, financial engineering, or economics (undergraduate or graduate level).
