Job Description

The successful Business Development Director will be instrumental in developing and implementing strategy, sales structures, processes, and methodologies that deliver sustainable and profitable growth.

This is not a traditional "lead-from-the-front" salesperson role. Instead, it requires a visionary leader who can shape and execute a long-term growth strategy. You will lead UK and Export teams, guiding them through structured sales and marketing approaches to expand our market presence and revenue streams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic growth plans to enhance sales, marketing, and commercial functions.
  • Implement structured sales methodologies, processes, and performance frameworks to drive business expansion.
  • Lead and mentor teams across Sales, Business Development, Marketing, and Commercial functions, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Drive brand development, digital strategy, and SEO initiatives to strengthen market positioning.
  • Oversee export operations, identifying international growth opportunities and ensuring robust market entry strategies.
  • Identify and implement improvements in purchasing and supply chain strategies (if applicable).
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics to ensure sustained revenue and profitability growth.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, efficiency, and high performance, ensuring best-in-class industry practices.

The Successful Applicant

The Business Development Director:

Key Requirements:

  • Proven senior-level experience in Sales, Business Development, Marketing, and Commercial leadership within a manufacturing or industrial sector.
  • Strong track record of delivering profitable growth through structured sales and marketing strategies.
  • Experience in leading and developing teams, both in the UK and internationally.
  • Expertise in digital marketing, brand development, and SEO to drive customer acquisition and retention.
  • Understanding of export markets and international business development.
  • Experience in Purchasing/Supply Chain is advantageous but not essential.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to challenge the status quo and introduce fresh ideas.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to develop and manage budgets and financial plans.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
